Snake Oil 8 Party at Bergen St Comics

Okay, we are having a thing. I just drew this flier for two nights of comic book parties at Bergen Street Comics in Brooklyn. Thursday, Nov 8th is Koyama Press with Deforge, Patrick Kyle and Jane Mai. And then on Friday, Nov 9th, Spaceface Books/Oily Comics bring a whole bunch of artists and their new books. I will be debuting my new issue of Snake Oil (8) published by Space Face and I will be signing people's foreheads. Oily will have a bunch of early releases there with the artists present. Look at the flier. Lots of names.
And then the next day is of course Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival where Koyama, Space Face, and Oily will also be exhibiting.
Bergen St Comics is a great shop. If you haven't been there then make your first time there one of these nights and rub elbows with some sweaty cartoonists.

OILY at TCAF 2012

Table 102 between to Secret Acres and One Percent Press is where you can find Oily Comics Books and friends such as Alex Kim, Sean Ford, Melissa Mendes and Joseph Lambert. New stuff we'll have at TCAF are The End of the Fucking World #7, Lou #3 and an interview zine with Noah Van Sciver.
Also, we'll have the brand new Sundays #5 edited by Sean Ford who will be signing his new tome, Only Skin at the Secret Acres table. We'll also have copies of the brand new Snake Oil #7 published by Retrofit Comics who will also be at the show with a ton of great comics. We'll also have some prints including a brand new Tyrant print by Steve Bissette and colored by me (chuck forsman).

We've noticed that ever since we started signing our comics "Charles Forsman" that people are now calling us that as opposed to "Chuck." That is totally fine but I really don't care. If you called me Chuck before then keep doing so. Only my mother and the state of California call me Charles.

I have a cold as I type this. I really hope I recover by this weekend. Nothing worse then travelling and selling comics while ill.  Despite that I have a ton of enthusiasm going for this trip to Toronto. I can't wait to see new and old friends. These shows means lot more to me ever since we moved out to the country. It's pretty amazing to get all these like-minded folks together. Makes me feel okay.

See you this weekend in Toronto.

All I Can Muster

Hello,

Good morning. I've got comics printing by my feet as I type. Letsee. What's going on around here?
page 5 of Lou #2

On the Oily comics front we have 2 new comics this month from Melissa Mendes and myself. Lou #2 and The End of the Fucking World #6. They are ready for your ordering needs in the redesigned Oily shop. Wholesale through Tony Shenton as always of you are a retailer. Lou #2 is a really solid chunk of comics. I can really feel the world of this family Melissa is building. The artwork is getting really dense, balanced and readable. And I totally envy her character design. She put a lot of work into these characters. And my comic is another issue of anxiety and blood and teenagers.

Lou #2! TEOTFW.6.cvr
I've got a new favorite thing to listen to. The Best Show on WFMU.  I know I am way late to that party but I am there now.  Also, I've been listening to Night People also on WFMU thanks to super-fan Michael DeForge who designed a t-shirt for the show.

I've been using the snakeoily tumblr a lot so if you don't read that please do. Lot's of fun going on over there.

Oh yeah, I started this simple website called Muster-List.com. This thing I made basically explains it.

Muster-List
Please help me promote this sucker on your blogs or whatever if you are into this sort of thing. I think it is really handy and have gotten a lot of good feedback on it. It's going to take a lot of hours to get a really good list up there. I chip away at it when I can.

7 new comics in the Oily Shop

7 new comics in the Oily Shop today!  Yeah! SEVEN!
We have Moose #1-6 from Belgium's own Max de Radigués.  I've been enjoying the hell out of this comic since Max started it last summer. Max is so good at cartooning teenagers and their awkward lives.
And then we have the debut of Melissa Mendes's follow up to her fantastic Freddy Stories, Lou #1. Lou is about a 9 year old tomboy and her kind of messed up family. We are excited for this new ongoing comic from Melissa. She connects to the live of kids like as if she still was one.
We love kids and teenagers at Oily.
Coming soon...The End of the Fucking World #5.

TEOTFW Part 4

Hello everybody. I somehow managed to pull together another issue of my mini comic, The End of the Fucking World.  This is part four in which not much happens but as Melissa put it, this is kind of a romantic issue. I hadn't planned that but that's perfect for February. I put Hank Williams on the cover because he is great.
Melissa Mendes was very nice to do a special drawing for this issue. It's the pretty one above of the kids dancing. Melissa has been posting tons of her Freddy trips on her tumblr lately. Follow them. Feel like a kid.
These comics are only a dollor. You can order them from me or get them at comic book stores that carry this sort of thing like Atomic books, Jim Hanleys, Bergen St Comics, Comix Experience, Tate's Comics, Fantastic Comics, Chicago Comics, Dr. Comics and Mr. Games, Quimby's and probably some others.
If you own a shop and would like to carry these comics then contact my whole sale guy Tony Shenton.
In other news, my hand are freezing.

Max in Angouleme

My buddy Max is up for an award for his book White River Junction at the International comics(BD) festival in Angouleme, France this week. I wish him well.  Here are two panels from the book that feature Melissa and I. Max is one of our favorite people. I miss living in the same town as him.
